@dj.tigersprout: Allright! Some answers; The Pan-American highway ends in the province Darien. There's no road that leads to Colombia. It was not the plan to cross the border through the jungle because that's prohibited. Just because so many travelguides and people says it's dangerous there because of Farc etc. we thought it was cool to get as close as possible, that's all... :)

Dangerous? I don't know, cities has their dangers by traffic and robberies and the jungle got it's own by snakes and other animals who are actually hiding when they hear human beings. They're hard to find as well.
The hardest parts of the trip were the incredible rainshowers every once in a while and the mosquitos in the evening and at night.

Anyway, we (two Canadian friends of mine and me) did the whole trip by canoe (panga) with an outboard motor over the river with our guide Ricardo who is an Embera indian who speaks (of cause) Embera, Spanish and English.
So in the end I can't say it's dangerous, but for sure it's adventure!
