@dj.tigersprout: Dj, it's not my boat... and sometimes I spend some time there, like the last month. We're actually transferring backpackers (max. 23 people on board, incl. crew) between Panama and Colombia over sea because there's no road between these countries and flying or sailing are the only options to cross the border. I think that sailing on this vessel for 4-5 days with a 2 days stop at San Blas is a better choice than a one hour flight for almost the same price. The ship has a website: www.stahlratte.de It's a non-profit association.
This is a magical scene and beautiful photograph - though the apparatus at center gives it a Dr. No kind of feel - what are we looking through?

@Stephen Phillips: Stephen, I was just looking for a different frame to put the islands in. To me, it's like the apparatus can lift the island somehow. But I do understand your point of view. Where looking from the balcony at the back of the ship, the app. is one of the hooks where we can lift the dingy up or bring it into the water. Thanks for your comments, I appreciate them.
